And another one
Another preview (RC2) is available here. Most of the debugging happened on the Mac side, but it ought to go slightly better everywhere.
I expect that RC3 will turn up as the aftermath of a day of testing on Windows. That will probably have to wait a bit – XP running under Parallels from the other partition of my MacBook Pro is not really the best environment to see how the other half lives. If it that all looks ok, I’ll put it up on Sourceforge as version 0.7.
And since now’s the time to make resolutions, I’ve resolved to be a bit more transparent about development plans. Sourceforge tells me that the Yoshikoder is downloaded about 200 times per month, so I can no longer really reassure myself that it’s just me, some colleagues, and a handful of surprisingly patient email aquaintances that need to know what I’m up to.
More on this next week I hope.
Hi Will,
Thanks for updating Yoshikoder. It’s a great tool and a wonderful contribution to the community. Looking forward to the next version.
In the meantime, I have a quick question. I wonder if there is any way of taking Word documents (or .txt documents) and converting them to Yoshikoder dictionaries?
The reason I ask is that I have a Word document with a list of keywords that runs about 190 pages (each keyword is on it’s own line) and I dread the prospect of having to do things the old-fashioned way, i.e., by hand (typing).
Thanks kindly

You have 190 pages of keywords? Blimey.
To get them all in at once, first save your existing dictionary someplace, just in case. Then do the following:
1) Format your Word document contents as
>>Category 1 Name<<
pattern1
pattern2
>>Category 2 Name<<
pattern3
pattern4
2) Save the document in UTF-8. In Word, that something like ’save as encoded text’ then choosing UTF-8 from the list.
3) Inside the Yoshikoder open the saved file using the ‘import VBPro dictionary’ function.
That should get everything in at once.
The new version is a bit of a mess still I’m afraid, but I’m still hoping for a nice stable release on the 31st.

Hi Will,
Just to give you a heads up — it worked beautifully and has saved me a lot of work. Thanks for that and sorry for the silly question — I subsequently found the answer but looking at the help documentation (hadn’t looked at it in a long while).
Cheers

Great. I’m glad to hear that worked out.
